I went to H&M in Georgetown last winter. I saw a knit sweater with the image of a wolf knitted on the front of it. I wanted it. But they didn’t have my size or it was too expensive… I can’t remember. I looked it up, but because H&M has the most atrocious online services in the U.S., I instead found a link to a wolf sweater post on Lookbook. Dylan Nathanson was wearing the sweater. On his lookbook there was a link to his tumblr. I liked his blog so I made one and within a month I bought the sweater and was the hottest shit on here.

For a long time, I’ve had a keen interest in all things Russian. In 2006, a year after aggregating my father’s surname to my full name, I realized that attaching the “CHAV” of “CHAVEZ” to the already present “MEDRANO” I could end up with “MEDRANOCHAV” which sounded effortlessly Russian while still remaining true to my existent surnames. It’s badass, it’s clever, it’s psuedo-Russian…it’s me.

KÜNST is the name of my blog. It’s German, because I have another keen interest in all things german, including the language. Kunst is German for art. I originally intended my blog to host my art and in-detail descriptions of my pieces and their meaning but of course my plethoric knowledge of all things pop overpowered whatever original intentions I had for my blog. I added the diaeresis or ( ¨ ) as a kitsch embellishment to the already german word to make it even more german. It’s overkill, it’s pretentious, it’s kitschy.

1. I have six versions of the same underwear.

3. I decided to be an art student six months before becoming one.
4.I wanted to major in English or Anthropology, I chose to paint & draw instead
